Abstract Medical devices are a major component of precision medicine and play key role in medical treatment, particularly with the rapid development minimally invasive surgery wearable devices. Their tissue contact properties strongly affect device performance patient health (e.g., heat coagulation slipperiness on surgical graspers). However, design optimization these surfaces still indistinct have no supporting principles. Under such conditions, natural various unique functions can provide solutions. This review summarizes current progress functional for devices, including ultra-slipperiness strong wet attachment. The underlying mechanisms attributed to their coupling effects featured micro-nano structures. Depending requirements, adaptable designs fabrication methods been developed.
